Cable Television Franchise Renewed
On August 9, 2010, the Columbia Heights City Council adopted Ordinance 1583, which renews the cable television franchise for a term of five years and alters certain Franchise requirements.

Access Channels

• Public Access Channel 15
• Effective September 15, 2010, Channel 15 will cease operation and the public access studio will close.
• Government Access Channel 16
• Channel 16 is currently experiencing technical difficulties, due to malfunctioning equipment that cannot be repaired. As part of the renewed cable franchise, the City will be receiving a capital equipment grant from Comcast which will be used, in part, for the purchase and replacement of City Council Chamber audio and sound reinforcement, cameras, and broadcasting and presentation systems.

• Channel 19 is currently experiencing technical difficulties and will be corrected once the Government Access Channel is fully functional.
