Local homeowners may file for homestead classification in the Community Development office at City Hall. To qualify for homestead classification the residence must be owned and occupied by the applicant. There is no charge for homesteading. To file for Homestead Classification you must have:
a copy of your deed,
a copy of the Certificate of Real Estate Value
each owner's social security number
all owner's signature on the homestead application
To qualify the property for the Homestead Tax credit in the next year apply by December 1.
