Assessment Information
The City of Columbia Heights contracts with Anoka County for billing and payment of assessments. Property tax information is available through the Anoka County Property Records & Taxation Department at 763.323.5400.
To request an assessment search, contact the Columbia Heights Finance Department between 8:00 am and 4:45 pm at 763.706.3634. There is a $15 charge for an assessment search. Additional Information
Water Utility 763.706.3640
Columbia Heights utility charges are billed quarterly. A minimum charge provides water and sewer service. Water and sewer charges are based on water usage and billed at a rate per 1,000 gallons.
All water meters are read every three months via RadioRead meters that were installed in most homes in 1999. Quarterly water bills also include charges for storm sewer, water meter, and garbage services.
Conservation Water Rates Structure Requirements (NEW)
A new state law (Minnesota Statutes 103G.291) effective January 1, 2010 requires that metropolitan communities to implement a water conservation rate structure. The purpose of the law is too encourage water conservation with the intent of reducing water consumption through water rates. For further information and rates, please follow the link below.

Garbage (Refuse) Services
Three levels of garbage service are available; full-service (90- gallon container), limited (60-gallon container) and low volume (30-gallon container). All levels have recycling and yard waste collection. Garbage containers are provided. For additional information on garbage services, call our information line at 763.706.3613. Payment
Payments for utility bills are accepted at City Hall, 590 – 40th Ave NE, during regular business hours. After hours and weekends a locked drop-box is available near the front door of City Hall on 40th Ave.
A direct payment plan is also available. Utility bills are paid automatically from your checking or savings account on the date due. Contact Utility Billing for an authorization form.
Senior Citizen Rates
Upon application and meeting income requirements, reduced garbage, water and sewer rates are available for lower income senior households (head or spouse age 62 years or more). Forms are available through the Utility Billing Department at 763.706.3640. Current rate is listed above.
Temporary Discontinuance of Water and/or Garbage Services
Residents who will be away for extended periods may request temporary discontinuance of service. A nominal fee is charged for this service. Requests must be made in writing at least two weeks prior to the date service is to stop. Request forms and for further information contact the utility billing department, 763.706.3640.
Utility Billing and Additional Information
Questions about individual bills will be answered by the Utility Billing Department 763.706.3640.
You must notify Utility Billing when you are moving to schedule a final meter reading. No deposit is required on the water meter.
