Read to a dog, or Read to Spooner the Library cat! All ages, Register for a 15 minutes appointment at the Columbia Heights Public Library. This initiative is funded in part with a grant from the Minnesota Department of Education using federal funding CFDA 84.287c, 21st Century Community Learning Centers.
Buddy Up and Read with a Friend
Are you an adult or young adult looking for help reading? Let the library find a reading partner for you. Volunteers are available to assist in your reading efforts. Sign up at the Circulation Desks. A volunteer will contact you directly. Sessions will be held at the library. The City of Columbia Heights does not discriminate on the basis of disability in employment or the provision of services.

Capital Campaign
The Columbia Heights Public Library Foundation is starting a Capital Campaign. All contributions are tax-deductible. Please contact Tom Scherohman 763-788-2905.
United Way
The Columbia Heights Public Library Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to raising funds for the Library. If you are making a United Way pledge for 2010, please consider designating the Foundation (01-0552134) as the recipient of your gift.
Book Donations
The Book Sale Cart is now available with used, donated and collectible materials for purchase. The proceeds from the Book Sale Cart are used to match a grant from the Gates Foundation to purchase new computers for patron use in the Library.
The Library will accept current printed materials in good to excellent condition that are odor and mildew free, as well as DVDs, CD and books on CD.
Sorry we cannot accept Reader's digest condensed books, Encyclopedias, textbooks, magazines, materials withdrawn from other libraries, or books that have been stored in a damp or musty environment.

Yearbook Search
The Library is looking for copies of the Columbia Heights Senior High School Year book. If you find a "Cohian" when you are cleaning out the attic, please consider donating it to the Library. The Library still needs Cohians from years 1948, 1951, 1952, 1991, 2001 and after, though all years are accepted, and Central Middle School Yearbooks are also desired. Thank you!
Soup Labels
The Library is still collecting Campbell's labels. Please bring the UPC or lid from these participating products; Campbell's Soups, Franco American SpaghettiO's, pasta and sauces, V8 beverages, Prego Sauces, Pepperidge Farm snacks and cookies, Swanson Broth, and more. See the Library display for a complete list.

No Roller Blades, scooters or skateboards are permitted in the library. Shirt and Shoes are required.
Library Cards
Residents may register for a free library card, and use it to borrow books and other library materials. ID Required. Cooperative arrangements with the Metropolitan Library Service Agency allow reciprocal use of library cards throughout the metropolitan area.

Delivery of requested materials from Anoka County Libraries is Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
At Home Service: We Bring the Library Home to You
A volunteer from the Columbia Heights Public Library will deliver library materials to your home if you are unable to visit the library in person. Please call Dana at 763.706.3690 for more information.
MELSA Museum Passes
Get your MELSA museum pass at the Columbia Heights Public Library. Check out a pass to any of 23 museums for 1 week. Passes are good for either 2 or 4 free admissions to such places as the Firefighters Hall & Museum, The Raptor Center, The Bakken Museum, Minnesota History Center, and many more. WiFi is Here!
Free WiFi Internet access is now available at the Columbia Heights Library. You must bring your own wireless-ready laptop computer. No power outlets are available, you need to run off your battery. There are no time limits, you can surf the Internet for as long as your battery will hold out. Bandwidth is limited, content is filtered and you must comply with the Internet use policy of the Library.

Friends of the Library
Friends are individuals and families who believe quality library services and programs are an asset to the community. Support from the friends provides materials and services not available through the municipal budget. The Friends of the Library meet once a month. Membership is open to individuals, families, and organizations interested in promoting the materials, services, and programs of the Columbia Heights Public Library. Membership dues are: $5.00 individuals; $10.00 family; $15.00 patron; and $25.00 business or organization. For more information call the library at (763) 706-3690.
Remote Access
Sign up for a PIN number to access your library card account online. The new ANOKAT gives you many new features available by entering your library card barcode and PIN number.
Email Notification
Sign up for email notification and receive courtesy notices when books are due, and when on-hold items are available!

Requests may be placed online with a patron barcode and a pin number and can be sent to any branch for pick-up.

Columbia Heights Historical Society
The Historical Society is looking for old photos of Columbia Heights. All donated pictures will be well cared for and preserved at the Columbia Heights Library.
OR if you have old photos you cannot bear to part with and they have historical significance for the City of Columbia Heights, digital photos can be taken or pictures can be scanned, by appointment.
