Primary Date Change
The Military and Overseas Empowerment (MOVE) Act has prompted the Minnesota State Legislature to move our State Primary Election to August 10, 2010, to provide for a 45-day absentee balloting period. The dates to file at City Hall for the offices of Mayor and two Council members will be May 18 through June 1, 2010. If you have any additional questions, contact the City Clerk at 763-706-3611

Garbage and Recycling changes Jan. 1
The City of Columbia Heights’ current residential garbage/recycling contract with Allied Waste Services ends on Dec. 31 and a new company will begin providing services. This will involve some changes that residents need to be aware of. For more information please click the link below.

Tribute Statue Unveiling

Grand Central Apartments Rental Proposal
At the March 2, 2010 Planning Commission Meeting, The Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval (with a 3-2 vote) of the Site Plan and Minor Subdivision in association with the proposed 200-unit apartment complex located at the northeast corner of 47th Avenue and Grand Avenue. The City Council will review the proposed Site Plan and Minor Subdivision at the April 12, 2010 City Council Meeting. The EDA will hold a meeting on March 23rd at 7:00 pm in the Council Chambers to review the market study performed by the developer. Please contact Jeff Sargent at (763) 706-3673 with questions.

Gateway Pedestrian Bridge Final Design
Final plans have been prepared for the replacement of the pedestrian bridge over Central Avenue at 49th Avenue. Renderings of the final plans may be viewed at the links below. The plans will be available for viewing in early January at the offices of the City Engineer.

For the City of Columbia Heights, titles and salaries as of January 19, 2010, are: City Manager - $132,641.00, Public Works Director - $115,890.00, Finance Director - $111,738.00.
