Homestead Classification
Local homeowners may file for homestead classification in the Community Development office at City Hall. To qualify for homestead classification the residence must be owned and occupied by the applicant. There is no charge for homesteading. To file for Homestead Classification you must have:

• A copy of your deed
• A copy of the Certificate of Real Estate Value
• All owner's signature on the homestead application
• Each owner's social security number

Qualifications
To qualify the property for the Homestead Tax credit in the next year apply by December 1.

The Residential Homestead Application may be downloaded and filled out prior to submitting the document to the Community Development Department, 590 - 40th Avenue NE, Columbia Heights, MN 55421.  Please ensure that the application is filled out in its entirety.
